No one likes driving on a road that is filled with potholes, because it is very uncomfortable and can damage someone’s vehicle. What can be even more frustrating for drivers that have to deal with this issue is when they call and try to get the potholes filled. As a professional contractor, Meadow Oak residents might not know about how hard it can be for local jurisdictions to figure out who is responsible for maintaining a specific road. Often times a repair job can be stuck in limbo because a road can be owned by a city, county, state, or someone can even privately own a road.
Zoning Issues Between Municipalities
It is not illogical to assume that in order to get a road repaired, someone needs to contact whoever is responsible, so they can come out and fix it. The problem with this logic though is that cities, counties, and states have a hard time owning up to the fact of who is responsible for the road. As a contractor, Meadow Oak residents should know that most likely it is not going to be a federal issue, unless it is a problem with the interstate. This is especially a problem in rural communities or in areas that are not as developed within local city limits.
What about Roads that are Privately owned?
Believe it or not, a person can own a road for private use. This is often the case with toll roads, a private investor created the road and is looking for a way to get money back on their investment. In the instance of a private road, the owner is responsible for the repairs. They would not call the county or the state but rather it would be their responsibility to contact a professional contractor. Meadow Oak residents should be aware that there are rarely any privately owned roads in the United States, so this scenario is not as likely to happen.
